TESDA’s Blue Desk: Bridging TVET Graduates to Employment

In response to President Duterte’s call to combat poverty and accelerate employment, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) launched the Job Linkaging and Networking Services (JLNS) through Circular 038-2016. At the heart of this initiative lies the Blue Desk Platform (BDP) — a frontline service designed to directly connect TVET graduates and alumni to employment opportunities.

The Blue Desk serves as the first point of contact for job seekers within TESDA-accredited institutions. It offers immediate access to essential information such as job vacancies, available scholarships, and current TESDA programs. More than just an information booth, the Blue Desk disseminates labor market information (LMI) through both digital and printed materials, keeping job seekers informed about current employment trends and demands.

A key feature of the Blue Desk is its role in establishing linkages with public and private sector organizations, including the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). These partnerships enhance the Desk’s ability to provide relevant job matching services and referrals. Additionally, the Blue Desk maintains a client database for tracking and profiling, enabling targeted post-training career advising and support.

Beyond job placements, the platform supports entrepreneurial paths by connecting graduates to business development services and potential funding sources. In doing so, the Blue Desk not only facilitates employment but also fosters self-sufficiency among TESDA graduates.

By prioritizing accessibility, timely information, and strategic partnerships, the Blue Desk Platform plays a vital role in shortening the job search period and empowering Filipino workers to take confident steps toward sustainable livelihoods.
